MUSKCON 2010 - Highlights |
|
The annual conference of MUSK was held at the NIMHANS convention centre on the 13th and 14th March 2010.
In addition to our national faculty we had an international luminary viz. Dr. R. Pooh from Japan. She does exclusive fetal CNS work and her images were absolutely stunning.
The fetal CNS workshop lasted for over four hours. The topics dealt included embryology, sonoanatomy, and sonopathology. There were two demonstration sessions. The first was a live demo of CNS sonoanatomy both by transabdominal and transvaginal routes. The second was a demo of working through normal and pathological fetal cranial volumes.
The post lunch session had topics dealing with the abdomen, small parts and Doppler. Notable were the lectures on contrast enhanced imaging of the liver, neonatal neurosonography, vesicoureteric reflux, appendix and colonic diverticulosis.
The second day was devoted to obstetric and gynecology. Notable were the minisymposiums on the fetal face and niche Doppler applications in the fetal heart.
The symposium on ‘fetal anomalies - what after diagnosis’ had the participation of clinicians from cardiology, orthopedics and genetics. There were other topics dealing with the fetal chest, thyroid, Doppler in anomalies and the fetal hand.
The sessions were well appreciated and the discussions were lively.
The trade exhibition area was a big hit.
The entire proceedings of MUSKCON 2010 are available on two DVD’s. The coverage is excellent in terms of the audiovisual content. The DVD set may be procured from the secretary of MUSK Dr. Chitra.
